When the 10:00 news aires, there are several things that happen in Master Control. First, Production calls us and asks for control. We pass it to them. This allows them to roll commercial breaks and air their footage. However, the power to change the actual playlist rests on the MC Op. Because the news is live, each commercial break has a few :15 - :30 promos that can be dropped at Production's request. We also have a master list of promos that can be added if needed.
It is well known throughout the station that the server we run our commercial breaks out of likes to take its time. It usually takes at least thirty seconds to remove a spot from the playlist. Because the MC Board is in an entirely different portion of the station than news, there is no way for we, the little people running the place to know how long we have until commercial breaks. Furthermore, I have been instructed to remove promos at the top of the break after all the other promos have been removed because the removal of a spot at the top of a break requires taking the second spot out of duration.
Production called and requested that I remove a minute worth of promos in the final break. I removed one 30-second spot and two 15-second spots. All was well. Then a few minutes later, Production called back and requested that I remove the final 30-second spot. I did so. About 15 seconds later, News tried to roll the break.
We went to black for about 6 seconds.
The camera man started swearing and telling me to roll. I couldn't beause he had control. He didn't seem to grasp this concept.
So, even though they are well aware that the server needs at least 30 seconds to pull spots and that I have no way of knowing how long I have until a break rolls, the blame was still put on me because essentially, I am the one that caused the server to crash.
Sounds like horse shit to me.
That's such a pretty word -- Avocado. It's crisp and clean.
I did something really random the other day. I went to Indianapolis with a bunch of people I wanted to kill and bought the first DVD of Neon Genisis Evangelion Platnum Edition. I always said I would buy the whole series when I had the money, but I didn't want to pay $125 for the box set and then realize I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. The first couple episodes were a little slow, but by the 5th episode I was totally engrossed and annoied that there were only 5 episodes on the first DVD. It is one of the two anime series I'm still interested in. As soon as I buy all of Eva I'm going to buy X the animated series. I might get the DVD of the movie when I get my books paid for.
I want to get plastic surgery. That's so random o_O;; I also want to get lazer surgery to get rid of my stretch marks and vericose veins. *sigh.* I'm only 18...
Matt and I still have to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It's very important. (Yes, it does have to be Matt that I see it with.)
I'm stuck here at lovely channel 25 until 1:00 tomorrow morning. (I'll put a photo with this when I do get home.) I really hate television. A lot. >_o;; (You're in the wrong proffession, Mandi!)
I kind of feel like having a good cry. The past few days have had so many emotions. All of them on either side. Nothing in the middle. I used to hate complacecy.
I am a very confusing person...
Some day I'm going to settle down with someone and we will be together forever and we will be happy and not leave each other for stupid reasons randomly for a month and run back to each other. In the mean time, I broke up with Chris and am with Matt, who recently recovered from his retardation.

Wow. I mean, Wow. This is what happens after a case of smirnoff and another case of daiquiri, and sexy black clothing. I drank entirely too much for my own good. (Shut up, I'm little.) Yeah. Julie and I are sexy sexy women. XD
I'm entirely too tired and not exactly seeing straight enough to write any more, so good night.
